BeMicron Eco-Pack

Hello and welcome everyone to our new blog where we will talk about the latest and a more sustainable innovative solution that BeMicron has recently added to its long-range of product assortment: The Eco-Pack

It is no secret with the climate changing at the fastest possible rate, the life-science industry is becoming responsible and sustainable. This is to say that the trend of the re-usable coverall is becoming more and more common especially in the pharmaceutical industry across the world. Now, even if the garments are re-usable, they are ultimately packed in plastic packages for their subsequent use. That’s where BeMicron Eco-Pack is very important which completely eliminates the need for plastic packaging. The fabric eco-pack pouch integrated with the garment replaces the traditional plastic packaging and guarantees that the product is wrapped in a safe, eco-friendly and durable way. Thanks to the BeMicron unique & patented folding system and donning procedure, the coveralls can be easily removed without contaminating the outside of the garment. Particular attention was paid to the choice of materials: they are soft and resistant to multiple washing and/or sterilization cycles. They are available in two versions: for gamma or autoclave terminal sterilization.

FEATURES:

  1. - The Eco-pack can be made available in any type of fabric and color. The standard fabric shares the same properties as that of re-usable garments giving them a longer life and better decontamination performance.
  1. - The Eco-pack comes with a zipper on the outside and a stud/button on the inside to hold the coverall in shape and provides ease while gowning the coverall.
  1. - The design of the Eco-pack is unique. This is to say that when the garment is worn by the operator, the integrated Eco-pack hides inside the coverall thereby making it invisible and eliminating any risk of contamination.

ADVANTAGES:

  1. 1. Reusability: The Eco-pack is highly re-usable with longer product life similar to other BeMicron coveralls and can support multiple types of sterilization.
  1. 2. Applications: The Eco-pack has been primarily designed for pharmaceutical companies but its use can be extended to any other industry and sector employing cleanrooms like Biotechnology, electronics, medical device manufacturing etc. In terms of different ISO classes and grades of the cleanroom, it fits perfectly in the majority of them.
  1. 3. Sustainable: It produces zero-waste and is a substitute to single-use plastic packaging. It’s an all-in-one solution to all re-usable coverall packaging.

BeMicron’s answer to Annex-1: Coverall with Integrated Goggle

Hello and Welcome to all our readers! We are going to talk about one of the most popular and accepted BeMicron innovations of the recent past.

Requirements for garments can differ vastly depending on the classification of your cleanroom. The higher the class and grade of the cleanroom, the more protection is required to keep the environment safe from any type of contamination. That is where BeMicron coverall with integrated goggle is very important. It does not allow any part of the skin to be exposed in free air. The all-in-one gowning system guarantees better contamination control and a significant reduction in discarded plastic waste. The goggles were designed with the key priority of safeguarding the comfort of the operator: the separate respiratory and visual compartments prevent fogging. They are light and durable with superior peripheral visibility and suitable for wearers of prescription glasses. Particular attention was paid to the choice of materials: they are soft and resistant to multiple washing and/or sterilization cycles. They are available in two versions: for gamma or autoclave terminal sterilization.

    1. FEATURES:

    1. - A hood that fits perfectly and completely encloses the head, providing full protection with excellent comfort.
    2. - Gowning without touching the coverall: The BeMicron is unique in the fact that the outside of the garment is protected from any risk of contact contamination (hand and surface).
    3. - No separate goggles and easy visor/lens change:

    • ADVANTAGES:

          1. 1. Annex A: The innovation has been made keeping in mind the GMP Annex 1 changes which forbids any part of the skin to be used in a Class 5 and above cleanroom environment.
          2. 2. Reusability: The garment is highly re-usable with longer product life than average coveralls and can support multiple types of sterilization.
          3. 3. Applications: The garment has been primarily designed for pharmaceutical companies but it’s use can be extended to any other industry and sector employing cleanrooms like Biotechnology, electronics, medical device manufacturing etc.

          BeMicron and its RFID Solution

Hello and welcome everyone to our blog where we will talk about some RFID-based solutions that BeMicron has recently added to its range of IT-solution assortment.

As we know, the world is moving rapidly towards a contactless ecosystem where more and more innovations are happening to make tech-dependent products faster, efficient, and touch-free. However, such advancements is not happening only in the consumer products industry, but also in the typical B2B industry where smart products are being developed for day-to-day use. BeMicron has been a pioneer in providing innovative RFID solution, which is widely used by its customer base. The two most commercial solutions are:

          1. 1. Distribution system

In big pharmaceutical companies, the management of personnel garments is a big issue. Normally, it’s a costly process involving a lot of lockers and complex management systems. One possible solution to it could be a digital store that manages the plant-wide distribution of the garments and feeds the data online for the managers to review and analyze. BeMicron Distribution System allows you to locate and track clothes taken out of the store by the wearer, to provide a real-time inventory of the store, and to manage a non-identifying follow-up of clothes. The system will draw up a list of the clothes it has identified (location, date, time, item code, wording, size, color, date of the last time they went to the laundry, number of washes, etc.) to allow crosschecking this list with data of the access management system of the company if necessary.

          Steps (How it works?)

The system works on 4 basic steps that make the whole process seamless:

           Features

The are 4 features of this system:

          1. Store Entrance- The clothes leaving BeMicron will be registered and considered as being in the store.

          2. Store Exit- Swiping in the security vestibule allows to identify the wearer and to associate the clothes that will be read by the RFID antenna. This action will also record the exit of the store for the clothes in question

          3. Store Inventory- The inventory will be compiled by a portable reader periodically to consolidate data.

          4. Analyses and Statistics- All the information will be available online including detail of the movements for each swipe badge, alert if the stock of certain clothes becomes critical, etc.

           2. Warehouse Management System

With “Pool Management”, you can manage your stock as you wish.
To begin with, you acquire a global clothing volume. These garments can be used in all sectors/departments of your production on the basis of a distribution that you manage through our solution.

Depending on the needs of your different departments, you can increase or decrease the volume allocated to them without making any physical modification to these garments. These can therefore be dynamically transferred from department to department.

Thanks to our system, you avoid buying additional stock to meet temporary demand or having to store dormant stock that can be significant.

          IT Package

The BeMicron IT package comes with loads of management systems, SOPs, and learning modules that can help an operator of the laundry to efficiently manage in the most compliant way possible and at the same time provide training to its personnel in an easy and cheap way. There are key 5 elements to the package:

LMS – The laundry management system (LMS) helps to track and monitor all the laundry machines running on-premises individually. They provide an overall picture thereby giving a real-time status of operation and a detailed picture of the different steps involved in the operation. These help in knowing the foreseeable errors and taking corrective actions.

FMS – The facility management system (FMS) helps to manage the overall facility around the laundry unit on the premise. It gives an insight into different aspects like capacity utilization, required load etc. that are essential for the smooth functioning of the laundry. These data help in running the laundry at an optimal level thereby avoiding an over or under-utilization.

QMS – The quality management system (QMS) helps to make sure that the entire laundry process is in compliance with the rules and guidelines. The SOPs are hosted on a separate platform called “VEEVA” which maintains a library of all the necessary papers, annex, and regulations required to operate in a laundry.

TMS – The textile management system (TMS) helps to manage the circulation and supply of the garments used in operations in the plant. Similar to FMS, it monitors the capacity utilization of the garments, classifying them individually into different filters, and providing an accurate picture of demand and supply.

E-learning – Again, the E-learning and training modules are hosted on “VEEVA” as well on the IT-platform which helps to train and re-train the personnel whenever needed. The biggest benefit is the cost-effectiveness of providing training and reduced human intervention.

Feature Alert: Cleanroom clothing in a sterilizable, reusable package

Protective equipment is used in clean room environments or laboratories to manufacture/manipulate medicinal products and biological materials, electronic or food in a sterile aseptic environment

In order to ensure a sterile aseptic environment, the cleanroom must be constructed according to EN ISO 14644 - Cleanrooms and associated controlled environments.

Persons working inside a clean room must wear special garments and accessories to minimize the release of particles (hair, skin particles, fibres, etc.). It is therefore necessary to isolate the body of the user so that he/she does not contaminate the working environment or the product which he/she is manipulating.  Prior to entering the clean room, various items of protective equipment must be donned, according to a strict protocol as to prevent contamination (e.g. by touching the surface of the equipment). These procedures are difficult to execute and generally require unconventional movements.

          BeMicron solution

BeMicron’s invention provides an equipment for cleanrooms or aseptic environments, which sterility is maintained during all logistic steps, thus limiting the environmental impact and costs associated with the logistics of protective equipment: decontamination, reconditioning, storage.

The invention provides a protective equipment that is packaged in a sterilizable, reusable pouch, with an opening provided with closure means.

The protective equipment includes an outer face intended to be in contact with the surrounding environment, and an inner face to be in contact with or oriented towards an operator. The patent also discloses a packaging method for the protective equipment and a dressing method to put on the protective equipment.

The sterilizable and reusable pouch has an opening provided with closure means which makes it possible to dispense with single use packages. The pouch forms a cavity with an opening and comprises at least two walls joined together over the larger part of their ends.

          A new beginning…

The brand “BeMicron” is not new in the cleanroom space. Being a research & development arm of its parent company Scaldis St-Martin, the brand name was given a legal status in 2018 when it was incorporated as an entity. The entity served as an innovation house which focused on exploring and improving ways of decontamination in a cleanroom.

However, on 9th March 2021, BeMicron became independent when its parent company was acquired by a French cleanroom commercial laundry.

BeMicron has since been flying alone taking its innovation, intellectual property, products and services to places across the globe backed by a super-motivated team, some of whom are in the cleanroom industry for more than 30 years:

Alongside, we believe our IT-solution supporting the entire concept of BeMicron is a strong USP because it not only facilitates management remotely but also makes the entire operation affordable and economical.

What challenges do you encounter on a day-to-day basis?

Jon: The challenges that we face in our regular activities is lack of proper communication at management level and lack of accessibility to the right people in a global-level pharma company. The industry is, in general, slow-paced but the slow decision makings makes it even worse. In many emerging countries, it has also been witnessed that one does not get any access to the concerned people for our type of products in an organization which is also why we are banking heavily on our online activities.

What are some of the improvements in pharma industry that has benefited you?

Jon: Strict rules and transparent policy making by all global pharma & bio-tech regulatory bodies have benefited us in telling our story better.

What are your current target markets for the BeMicron and why?

Jon: We are doing well in developed countries like EU and outside Europe where companies seem to follow rules and regulations seriously without having much observations from regulatory bodies. The problem lies in developing countries where the number of observations from regulatory bodies are high. Therefore, we are currently focusing on emerging economies, South Asia to be specific, where the pharmaceutical industry is seeing a big boost and the domestic companies are expanding with ambitions to go abroad. Here, we feel our product can be put to its best use where our entry into the picture would tick one of the most important boxes for pharma companies under-going regulatory inspections.
